Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Nearly half of the mammalian species in Sri Lanka are present in the Sinharaja forest region.
A lucky visitor may get the chance of observing an elusive wild cat in Sinharaja, either the Leopard, Fishing Cat or the smaller Rusty-Spotted Cat. And the wild pig, the sambur, the mouse deer and the barking deer are same that you find in the Sinharaja.
