Sinharaja Rain Forest

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Nearly half of the mammalian species in Sri Lanka are present in the Sinharaja forest region.

A lucky visitor may get the chance of observing an elusive wild cat in Sinharaja, either the Leopard, Fishing Cat or the smaller Rusty-Spotted Cat. And the wild pig, the sambur, the mouse deer and the barking deer are same that you find in the Sinharaja.

Sinharaja Rain Forest is home to numerous indigenous birds such Ceylon Hanging Parrot, the Ceylon Grey Hornbill, the Jungle fowl, the Spur fowl, the Brown- capped Babbler, the Red-faced Malkoha etc…
